 Fishing Log

Saturday, July 6, 2002 - I took Mason down to Singleton's dock where he caught his first fish.  His first was a mangrove snapper, the next three were sailors' choice.  All were about the size of my hand.  I baited the first hook, but the boy made all of his own casts, managed all of his own hook sets, and landed all 4 fish by himself.  He was very serious about wanting NO HELP!

Friday, July 26, 2002 - I hooked a 15" gag grouper about high tide, just before lunch, at C-1-W.  He hit a chartreuse, soft plastic, metal flake twisty tail, on a red, .25 oz. jig.

Came back after lunch and spotted the same big barracuda that I have frequently seen over at Foxtrot Cove.  I tossed a jig just over his nose that spooked him off.  Also fowl hooked and released several sailors' choice, and lady fish.  Gave the grouper to Mikey Q. who gifted me a pint jar of real moonshine earlier this week.*  The weather has been hot, with temps in the low to mid 90's every afternoon.

* Amazingly good stuff from the mountains of North Georgia: gin clear, with a smell and taste very much like tequila.
